Hi Stefan,

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I was seriously asking
whether you want to continue to use the TP, which, as Sam points out,
has never ever done anything for you. If you are comfortable with the
current setup, it might be a simplification for you to just drop usage
of the TP.

Difficult question. If a new translator comes along, wishing to
translate CLISP, he first needs to communicate that desire to the team
leader, which then communicates that to us. Hopefully, at that point,
we remember the existing translations.

In fact, for all the existing translation, there already *is* a
translator assigned in the respective team, so the translator should
be aware of the existing translation (in many cases, the translator is
the author of the existing translation, so he is certainly aware).

Re-using the existing translations by a different translator might be
tricky. CLISP requires translation disclaimers, so we can only assign
translators who have filed a disclaimer. Furthermore, we can only
reuse translations where the previous translators have filed
disclaimers. In the past, unclear authorship of the existing
translations often meant that the translation is useless, since it is
not clear whether the original author has given permission for
somebody else to derive from them.

No, it's not what I want. I personally don't see any problems with the
current status; I find it ok if the TP archives don't have copies of
the current translations.

In the future, it would be good if you could encourage translators to
use the TP robot to submit translation, and that you only accept
translations into your repository that have been checked by the TP
robot.

For that to work, you should communicate, from time to time, a new POT
file to us, by notifying translation@iro.umontreal.ca of a new source
archive.

As I said, this was not meant to be aggressive: it was a serious
question (or encouragement). Since no CLISP translator has ever used
the TP robot for the last decade, I think it is only natural to ask
whether you could simplify procedures by just not using the TP
anymore.
